Thang Long Imperial Citadel – An ideal tourist destination in Hanoi

Located at 19C Hoang Dieu, Thang Long Imperial Citadel is a World Cultural Heritage recognized by UNESCO in 2010. To date, Thang Long Imperial Citadel is the only historical site in Hanoi to receive this title.
Important relic complex
Through many historical changes, Thang Long Imperial Citadel with its thousand-year history still preserves priceless relics. The heritage site includes the central axis of the Imperial Citadel and the archaeological site at 18 Hoang Dieu. The central axis has 5 relic sites: Ky Dai (Hanoi Flag Tower), Doan Mon, Kinh Thien Palace Base, Hau Lau and Chinh Bac Mon (North Gate).
The boundaries of the Heritage Area are as follows:
North: Adjacent to Phan Dinh Phung Street, Hoang Van Thu Street
West: Adjacent to Hoang Dieu Street, Doc Lap Street and the National Assembly Building grounds
South: Adjacent to Bac Son Street and the National Assembly Building grounds
East: Adjacent to Nguyen Tri Phuong Street

Since 2002, archaeological excavations at this site have found underground many traces of palace foundations, towers and millions of relics. These are vivid evidences reflecting the glorious history of Thang Long Citadel more than a thousand years ago. The thousand-year-old artifacts excavated from the underground of Thang Long Imperial Citadel are priceless historical witnesses, telling the story of a prosperous and heroic era of the nation. This is a material and spiritual treasure, demonstrating the remarkable development of Dai Viet civilization.
Thang Long Royal Treasures Exhibition Hall
The exhibition includes spaces corresponding to the dynasties: Space to introduce artifacts from Dai La, Dinh – Tien Le, Ly – Tran dynasties; Space to introduce artifacts from Le So, Mac, Le Trung Hung dynasties.
Thang Long Imperial Citadel is a world cultural heritage in the heart of Hanoi with a history of more than 1,300 years.
