Hoang Thanh Thang Long – 10 years anniversary honored by Unesco World Cultural Heritage (2010 – 2020)
Hoang Thanh Thang Long is a relic complex associated with the history of Hanoi Thang Long Citadel. This architectural work was built by the emperors in many historical periods, becoming the most important relic in the system of Vietnamese monuments. In 2010, the Thang Long Citadel of Vietnam was recognized by the United Nations Educational and Scientific Organization (UNESCO) as a World Cultural Heritage. This is a milestone of special importance for the Hoang Thanh Thang Long Heritage Site in particular and for Vietnam in general.
Hoang Thanh Thang Long – World Cultural Heritage
Hoang Thanh Thang Long Heritage Site has been honored by Unesco World Cultural Heritage based on 3 criteria:
- Criterion (ii): The Central Citadel of Thang Long – Hanoi demonstrates the exchange of Chinese influences in the north and Champa kingdom in the south. This property contains cross-cultural exchanges that contribute to a unique culture in the lower Red River.
- Criterion (iii): The Central Citadel of Thang Long – Hanoi is a testament to the long-standing cultural traditions of Vietnamese residents living in the Red River delta. This is the center of power almost continuously from the 7th century to the present day.
- Criterion (vi): With its political functions and symbolic role, Imperial Citadel of Thang Long – Hanoi is directly related to many important historical and cultural events, expressions. arts as well as moral, philosophical, and religious ideas. These successive events marked the formation and development of an independent nation for more than a thousand years, including the colonial period and the two Wars for Independence and reunification.
