House and Tunnel D67 – Important construction during the resistance war against America

House D67

House D67 has the meeting room of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission, the office of General Vo Nguyen Giap, the office of General Van Tien Dung and the break room.

From the outside, house D67 is a normal flat-roofed house, measuring 43.02 x 20.85m; the roof height is 7.89m, located under the trees. When entering, the military element is clearly visible with 60cm thick, soundproof walls, and 2-layer doors (the outer layer is made of 10cm thick steel plates). On the roof is a layer of sand, which can block rocket fragments and conventional bomb fragments. The back corridor leads to two doors leading to the underground bunker.

Building D67 has the meeting room of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission, the office of General Vo Nguyen Giap, the office of General Van Tien Dung and the break room.

The meeting room of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission has 4 doors. Important meetings of the Ministry take place here.

The office of General Vo Nguyen Giap and the office of General Van Tien Dung have 2 doors. In case of an incident, one can quickly escape or go to the shelter.

D67 Tunnel

D67 Tunnel is an important project for the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to work. The tunnel has 2 entrances from House D67. The tunnel is 1.2m wide with 45 steps, plastered with granite. Going down 9m is the tunnel’s office system including: Meeting room, duty room – information, room containing ventilation equipment to filter toxins, providing clean air for users when the door system is closed.

The building has 3 staircases, the entrances and exits all have two layers of 12cm thick green steel doors, with many handles and a high gasket system behind, these doors are used to resist the shock waves of bombs exploding into the building, and can prevent water and toxic gas.

On the roof of the structure is a layer of sand cushion and reinforced high-grade concrete slabs, with enough thickness and width so that when bombs explode on the roof or next to it, they will not cause damage to the structure. In addition, Bunker D67 is also capable of withstanding all types of bombs and penetrating bombs.

House and Bunker D67 are also known as the General Headquarters (meeting and working place of the Politburo, Central Military Commission, General Command), the nerve center, where important policies, decisions, strategic plans, and directives are made. Here, General Vo Nguyen Giap, General Van Tien Dung and the Supreme Command worked for over 2,500 days and nights to lead and direct our army and people to wage the greatest patriotic war in the history of the nation.
