House and Bunker D67 are important revolutionary relics in the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Site. The relic is associated with the activities of the Politburo, the Central Military Commission, the Minister of National Defense, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army. Here, from September 1968 to April 30, 1975, the supreme command: the Politburo of the Vietnam Workers’ Party (since 1976, the Communist Party of Vietnam), the Central Military Commission, and the General Command of the People’s Army focused their intelligence, proposed correct and creative strategic policies, and led our people to the final victory of the resistance war against the US to save the country.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025), the Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center organized the exhibition “The Road to Reunification” at the Revolutionary Relic House and Bunker D67. The exhibition introduces 200 documents and photos, including 03 topics:
Topic 1: Strategic decisions of the General Headquarters: Introducing the revolutionary situation of our country since the Paris Agreement was signed in 1973. Despite facing many difficulties, the resistance of our army and people is facing a great opportunity. Based on the analysis and assessment of the situation with many changes favorable to the revolution, from the General Headquarters, the Politburo and the Central Military Commission made strategic decisions for the Vietnamese revolution, affirming “Firmly following the path of violent revolution, maintaining the offensive strategy, grasping the opportunity, and giving flexible direction to bring the revolution to complete victory”.
Topic 2: One day equals 20 years: Implementing the policy of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission, our army and people entered the General Offensive and Uprising in the spring of 1975 with the pace of “One day equals 20 years”. Our fight developed at a “lightning speed” with consecutive victories from the battlefields: Route 14 – Phuoc Long, Tay Nguyen, Tri Thien Hue, Da Nang.
Topic 3: Advancing to Saigon: Seizing the opportunity, the Politburo directed the entire army and people to enter the final strategic decisive battle, with the spirit of “lightning speed, boldness, surprise, sure victory”, launching a general attack, advancing to liberate Saigon. At 11:30 a.m. on April 30, 1975, President of the Saigon government Duong Van Minh was forced to declare unconditional surrender. The Ho Chi Minh Campaign was completely victorious, the country was unified, and the country was reunited.
