Hanoi will organize an exhibition of archival documents in 2024 with the theme “Hanoi and the Gate Gates”. The expected time is October 9, 2024, outdoor space at the Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center, No. 19C Hoang Dieu.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2024), the Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center in coordination with the Hanoi Department of Home Affairs and the National Archives Center I (Department of State Records and Archives) organized an exhibition of archival documents with the theme “Hanoi and the Gate” at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel heritage site.

Hanoi with 36 streets and 5 gates in poems and songs has been engraved in the minds of many generations of Vietnamese people. Gate – a unique and distinct name only found in Hanoi, opened at the junction with the Red River, functioning as a trading gate and carefully guarded. However, through many ups and downs of history, the ancient gates of the capital have gradually faded into memory. The story of Hanoi’s gates is a fascinating content in itself as well as closely linked to the history of the thousand-year-old land of Thang Long – Hanoi.

The city gate – a very small structure in the overall famous architectural works of Hanoi through many historical periods, but it holds a very long story of Hanoi. It is history, politics, culture, and social life. The city gate is close and dear in the memories of many people, reminding us of the glorious past of our ancestors, so that we can appreciate the present and build the future.

The exhibition of archival documents “Hanoi and the City Gates” will open on October 7, 2024 at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Site, No. 9 – Hoang Dieu Street – Ba Dinh District – Hanoi City.
