Exchange with Cao Son tea artisans on the occasion of Doan Ngo Festival

Drinking tea is a tradition and habit of the Vietnamese people. According to folk experience, at noon on the 5th of May, people often pick guava leaves, guava buds, lotus leaves, vông leaves, jasmine flowers, lotus flowers… to dry, store and preserve for drinking all year round. In Dai Viet Su Ky Toan Thu, it is recorded that the Tran kings built palaces to enjoy tea. During the Le and Nguyen dynasties, this art developed further and reached its peak. On the Doan Ngo festival, in addition to giving out gifts of food, fans, and handkerchiefs, the Nguyen kings also gave tea to their subjects.

Drinking and enjoying tea is a cultural flow that permeates the life and soul of Vietnamese people. To honor the custom of drinking tea to cool down and prevent diseases, to the art of enjoying royal tea, the Center cooperates with tea artisan Nguyen Cao Son to organize performances and exchanges with tourists. The artisan will share interesting stories, secrets of tea brewing, tea making, and special tea enjoyment… conveying knowledge, understanding and joy to tourists.
