Program “Autumn memories” to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the Capital at Hoang Thanh Thang Long

Celebrating the 65th Anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day, in order to review the revolutionary tradition, to honor the Heroic Martyrs, the witnesses of the history, the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center – Hanoi and the Vietnam Association of Historical Sciences organizing the program “Memories of Autumn” with activities: Exhibition “Hanoi in the autumn of that year”; Ceremony to salute the historical flag; Exchange of historical witnesses and historians; Launching the photo book “We bring back the glory of the nation”.

The desired program will bring back feelings and memories of the nation’s heroic historical moment.

At 15:00 on October 10, 1954, in the jubilant atmosphere of the army heading for the liberation of the Capital, there was a special ceremony taking place at Doan Mon yard – Thang Long Imperial Citadel (then known as Cot Co yard), it was the first historic saluting ceremony on the day Hanoi was liberated.

The flag-raising ceremony was organized by the City Military Administration Committee in the presence of military units taking over the Capital and tens of thousands of compatriots. Fluttering red yellow flag fluttered atop the ancient Flagpole. Both Hanoi jubilantly rejoiced in the joy of liberation, proud of the resistance power, grateful to the beloved Party and Uncle Ho.

October 10, 1954 became a milestone in the history of construction and development of the Capital and the country, marking a significant turning point, opening a new glorious development period in history. Thang Long – Dong Do – Hanoi.

Celebrating the 65th Anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day, to review the revolutionary tradition, to honor the Heroes of the Martyrs, the witnesses of history, the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center – Hanoi and the Vietnam Association of Historical Sciences organize the program “Memories of Autumn”. The highlight of the program is the re-enactment of the celebration of the historic flag 65 years ago, right on the Capital Liberation Day. The flag-raising ceremony will include the following activities: Memorial procession of historical witnesses and witness families; cultural program “The epic song in the autumn of history”. After that, the witnesses and guests will perform the flag-raising ceremony at Doan Mon yard (at the position of the liberation army to perform the flag-saluting ceremony when taking over the ancient capital).

In addition, the program “Memory of the Fall” also introduced to the public to display the theme of “Hanoi that autumn“. Through more than 200 images, documents, artifacts, exhibits and retelling the historical story of Hanoi in the years of resistance against France, from the day of nationwide resistance (19-12-1946), over 9 years of tasting honey, thorns long period of resistance war, the journey towards the liberation of the Capital.

During the program, the public also interacted with historical witnesses and historians to share unforgettable memories about the moment when the victorious army moved to Hanoi.

Also on this occasion, the Organizing Committee launched a photo book on Capital Liberation Day “We bring back the glory of national strength“, edited and introduced by Duong Chinese historian Duong China.

The program “Memories of Autumn” takes place on the morning of October 6 at Doan Mon Stadium, Thang Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Area, 19C Hoang Dieu, Ba Dinh, Hanoi.
