International Conference of Italy – Vietnam on architecture and conservation: With the theme “Cities of the future and heritage conservation”

On March 20, 2019, under the auspices of the Italian Embassy in Hanoi, Hanoi City People’s Committee, UNESCO Vietnam Office, Venice Architects Association, SCE Project Asia and IUAV University of Venice cooperates with Phuong Dong University, University of Construction, Hanoi University of Architecture to hold a workshop on architecture and conservation at Hoang Thanh Thang Long World Heritage Site. framework of the third Italian Design Day worldwide with the theme “Cities of the Future and Heritage Preservation”.

The purpose of the Workshop is to contribute opinions, opinions and debates among organizations operating in many fields of architecture, conservation and the general public about the need to develop Hanoi into a “ a smart city ”along with vast architectural heritage, priceless historical and cultural works, including taking into account the sustainable development of the tourism industry. Hanoi, like many other Asian cities, is increasingly facing challenges in combining urban development with preserving cultural identity. The topic of cultural heritage conservation is the main topic mentioned in the presentations of domestic and foreign units.

The event in Hanoi is part of the overall program of the Third Italian Design Day, involving the most important cities in Southeast Asia. In Vietnam, the event will be kicked off by a week of workshops starting March 11 at Hanoi University of Architecture, University of Civil Engineering and Orient University, with discussions around conservation topics. The city’s design, organized by IUAV Venince University with the support of SCE project Asia. These discussions will focus on sharing on the landscape and future of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, through an analysis of one of Hanoi’s most famous landmarks: “Hoan Kiem Lake”..

The “Cities of the Future and Preserving Cities” Workshop is an open workshop with the public and over 300 guests. The seminar discussed the strategies, techniques, and technologies applied to preserving historical sites. Italian and Vietnamese experts will meet and exchange experiences as well as present the latest information to the audience.The most typical projects after the week of the workshop will be on display at the World Heritage Hoang Thanh Thang Long .
