Vietnamese Tet space with the theme “Huong Xuan” at Thang Long Imperial Citadel

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2019, a display space reminiscent of the old New Year with the theme “Huong Xuan” was also recreated at the 19C Hoang Dieu Welcome House, Thang Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Area.

In the space of the model of an old house, the old town is restored, the image of traditional Tet appears full of nostalgia and shimmering colors with many unique cultural features such as welcoming the spring dragon, the custom of asking for the words of the Spring day and playing. Tet couplets, Chinese traditional wine model, folk paintings on Tet holiday …

The highlight of the exhibition are images that introduce the spring culture in enjoying Tet wine, Tet cakes and model for making Tet wine flowers. Taste on the New Year is stronger with precious Wine, which is elaborately and sophisticatedly displayed, and cakes, which used to be the offering to the King in the past.

Thang Long cuisine is very rich and unique, many documents have recorded a number of craft villages with famous products that were once brought to the royal court to offer to the king. Chapter (Thuy Khue today) of Thang Long from Ly – Tran period is famous for making lotus wine. In addition to Thuy Chuong lotus wine, there is chrysanthemum wine in Ngau village (Thanh Tri district).

With many vivid images, the exhibition brought visitors back to the colorful memory domain with sausages, flowers decorated with Tet paper by handmade paper, old newspapers; Nostalgic about the simple Tet holiday but no less cozy and playful.

A unique collection of rags made by Vu. art is also introduced at the exhibition. Paintings of Kim Hoang toxic pigs and Dong Ho leaves eating pigs were created by handicapped people from Van Phuc silk fabric (Ha Dong). The pieces of rags seem to be no longer worth using, with the ingenuity, diligence and creativity of the craftsmen, creating unique, colorful and artistic paintings.
