Inauguration Ceremony of the Bell Pavilion at the Thăng Long Imperial Citadel: Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (2 September 1945 – 2 September 2025)

During the Millennial Anniversary of Thăng Long – Hà Nội (October 2010), the Ha Noi Handicraft and Craft Village Association had the honor of donating three sacred ceremonial objects to the Thăng Long Imperial Citadel: a great drum, a great gong, and a great bell, contributing to the overall success of the National Celebration.

Over time, due to harsh weather conditions and natural degradation, the drum has cracked and loosened, and the Bell Pavilion has deteriorated significantly.

With the desire to ensure that the historical and sacred value of these ceremonial objects is preserved and passed on to future generations — while continuing to promote the cultural heritage of traditional craft villages — the President of the Ha Noi Handicraft and Craft Village Association worked closely with the Board of Directors of the Thăng Long – Hà Nội Heritage Conservation Center to agree on a plan to restore the great drum and rebuild the Bell Pavilion.
The new pavilion follows the scale and architectural style of the Drum Pavilion, previously contributed by Doji Gold & Gems Group, along with several related auxiliary works.

During the inauguration and handover ceremony on 21 August, Ms. Hà Thị Vinh, President of the Ha Noi Handicraft and Craft Village Association, together with association members, officially presented the newly completed Bell Pavilion to the representative of the Thăng Long – Hà Nội Heritage Conservation Center.

The Pavilion will be used in important traditional ceremonies held at the Thăng Long Imperial Citadel, and will also serve the needs of visitors coming to experience the heritage site.

With the aim of preserving and promoting the historical and cultural values of the Bell Pavilion, the Ha Noi Handicraft and Craft Village Association called upon its members, artisans, and enterprises, who collectively contributed their resources and devotion to the restoration of the great drum and the reconstruction of the Bell Pavilion.

The restoration of these sacred ceremonial objects reflects the profound respect, gratitude, and reverence of the craft village community toward the ancestors, past kings, enlightened leaders, and national heroes who devoted their lives to the country.

After the period of reconstruction, the new Bell Pavilion has been completed and, together with the Drum Pavilion, now forms a notable architectural highlight within the heritage landscape.

This meaningful contribution supports the preservation and promotion of Viet Nam’s traditional craft heritage in general, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site – Central Sector of the Thăng Long Imperial Citadel in particular, honoring the cultural essence passed down through generations.

During the inauguration and handover ceremony, Ms. Hà Thị Vinh and members of the Association once again presented the Bell Pavilion to the Thăng Long – Hà Nội Heritage Conservation Center to be officially put into use for major ceremonial activities and to enhance the visitor experience at the heritage site.
