On the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution (19 August 1945 – 19 August 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (02 September 1945 – 02 September 2025), the Thang Long – Ha Noi Heritage Conservation Center, in collaboration with relevant agencies and partners, is organizing a series of commemorative exhibitions and displays, including:

  • The D67 House and Bunker – Journey to the Day of Great Victory (Phase 1)
  • Promoting the Revolutionary Heritage of the Cryptographic Bunker – General Staff Headquarters
  • Ha Noi Flag Tower – The Nation and the Aspiration for Peace

Interpretive Exhibition: “The D67 House and Bunker – Journey to the Day of Great Victory” (Phase 1)

The D67 House and Bunker was secretly constructed in 1967. It served as the venue for many pivotal meetings of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission, and was also the workplace of the Commander-in-Chief and Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army during the resistance war against the United States and in the subsequent period of national reconstruction.

Aiming to vividly interpret the role of the D67 House and Bunker during the years 1968–1975, the exhibition “The D67 House and Bunker – Journey to the Day of Great Victory” features over 300 documents and photographs, presented under four thematic sections:

  1. The Gulf of Tonkin Incident and the First U.S. Bombing Campaign against North Viet Nam
  2. The Story of the D67 House and Bunker – Journey to the Day of Great Victory (Phase 1)
  3. Defeating the “Vietnamization” Strategy and the Second U.S. Bombing Campaign
  4. The Great Spring Victory of 1975

Promoting the Historical Value of the Cryptographic Bunker (General Staff Headquarters)

The Cryptographic Bunker is part of the A-Zone underground complex within the ancient citadel area of Ha Noi. Constructed during the resistance war against the United States, the bunker played a crucial role in enabling the General Headquarters of the Viet Nam People’s Army to maintain stable command and coordination of all military units and battlefronts despite the intense U.S. aerial bombardments over Ha Noi.

Construction of the bunker commenced on 10 February 1966 and was completed on 30 June 1966, with a total area of 37.2 square meters. It was most intensively used in December 1972, during the peak of the U.S. bombing campaign known as the “Dien Bien Phu in the Air.”

For the first time, the restored Cryptographic Bunker is being opened to the public on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of Viet Nam’s National Day, marking an important milestone in heritage education and fulfilling the public’s growing interest in learning more deeply about revolutionary and wartime relics.

Exhibition: “Ha Noi Flag Tower – The Nation and the Aspiration for Peace”

The thematic exhibition “Ha Noi Flag Tower – The Nation and the Aspiration for Peace” aims to honor and promote the values of one of Ha Noi’s most iconic historical landmarks — a site that embodies the cultural and spiritual identity of the people of the capital and of the Vietnamese nation as a whole.

The exhibition is structured around three main themes:

  1. The Flag Tower under the Nguyen Dynasty
  2. French Colonial Occupation and Its Transformations
  3. An Independent Viet Nam

These themes are presented through a combination of highlighted historical events, authentic artifacts, and a short documentary film illustrating the history of the Flag Tower’s construction. A particular highlight is the recreation of the historic moment of Ha Noi’s Liberation on 10 October 1954, bringing to life the powerful symbolism of the national flag flying once again over the capital.
