The 21st Vietnamese Poetry Day was held at the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long

The main event of the 21st Vietnamese Poetry Day takes place on the full moon of the first lunar month of the year of the Rabbit (February 5, 2023), instead of being held in the morning as usual. After 18 years of being held at the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam, for the first time Vietnam Poetry Day took place at the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long. The space of Poetry Day includes the entire area of Doan Mon yard of the Imperial Citadel.

Poetry Day not only spreads the love of poetry but also is an opportunity for people to love and be more proud of the poetry of the Vietnamese nation. In the courtyard in front of Doan Mon gate is an exhibition of Poetry Street with famous poetic works. At the end of the poetry street is the “Poetry Quan”, where poets and people of many generations can exchange, read poetry and talk about Vietnamese poetry. Parallel to the poetry street is the “Book Street” with booths of publishers, cultural companies, book distribution,…

“Poetry Street” and “Book Street” attract a large number of visitors. Not only are the faces of the veterans in the poetry industry, “Poetry Day” also has the presence of the young generation of young bamboo shoots with young people who love literature and poetry who also come here to learn and discover about the ancient literature of Vietnam. Vietnam.

In particular, at the central location, in front of Doan Mon gate is the main stage, called “Dan tho”, where the Nguyen Tieu Poetry Night takes place. Poetry Night will feature 21 poems and author appearances, equivalent to 21 times Poetry Day is celebrated. Poetry reading section consists of 4 chapters: New Poetry; Poetry of resistance against the French; Poetry of resistance against America; Poetry in the renovation period and young poetry.
