President Luong Cuong offers incense to celebrate the New Year of At Ty 2025 at the Central Heritage Site of Thang Long Imperial Citadel – Hanoi

On the morning of February 6, 2025 (January 9, At Ty year), at the World Heritage Site of Thang Long Imperial Citadel. The Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center coordinated with the Thang Long – Hanoi Cultural Heritage Association and related units, the Trieu Khuc village dragon dance team, the Co Loa festival drum team (Dong Anh – Hanoi), the Van Phuc communal house’s male worship team, the Lang Thuong women’s association’s incense offering team, and the Van Phuc communal house’s Bat Am team (Ba Dinh) to solemnly organize the incense offering ceremony to open the spring of At Ty under the chairmanship of President Luong Cuong, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Thang Long Imperial Citadel is one of the most important heritages of the capital and the whole country, the center of convergence and crystallization of the Vietnamese people’s culture for 13 centuries. This is the place where 52 kings of independent Vietnamese feudal dynasties ruled, marking the historical ups and downs and continuous development of the Vietnamese people.
The event recreated part of the sacred and solemn traditional rituals. The incense offering and spring opening ceremony at Thang Long Imperial Citadel is an important ritual, expressing respect to ancestors and predecessors who have contributed to the country, and praying for a peaceful and prosperous new year. The ceremony partly recreated the ancient royal rituals. Offering incense, flowers, tea, and wine. In addition, there were graceful dragon dance performances, symbolizing the strength and prosperity of the nation, along with the resounding drum beats, meaning to drive away evil spirits and welcome the new year with many good things. The organization of the incense offering and spring opening ceremony, in addition to its spiritual significance, also contributed to reminding today’s generation of the responsibility to preserve and promote national cultural values. Through traditional rituals, people have the opportunity to connect with their roots and learn more about the beauty of royal and folk ritual culture. This event also contributes to promoting the image of Thang Long – Hanoi, attracting domestic and foreign tourists to visit, research and experience. This is not only a simple cultural activity, but also a strong affirmation of the awareness of preserving and honoring the heritage values of the Vietnamese people.
At the end of the ceremony, amidst the bustling sound of festival drums and the image of the graceful dragon dance troupe, the people of the capital and visitors left with joy, carrying with them the belief in a new year of peace, luck and many new achievements. The incense offering ceremony, opening the spring of At Ty 2025 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel once again affirmed the strong vitality of Vietnamese traditional culture, contributing to spreading the spirit of solidarity and national pride in every Vietnamese person.
