Opening of the Exhibition of Oriental Treasures, Beijing Gardens – Ancient Gardens of Beijing at Thang Long Imperial Citadel

On the morning of September 11, 2024, at the world heritage site of Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hanoi, Vietnam, a major cultural event took place. The opening ceremony of the Exhibition of Oriental Treasures, Beijing Gardens with the theme “Ancient Gardens of Beijing”. The exhibition is one of the activities within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center and the Beijing Park Management Center. This is also the result of close cooperation between the two cities, demonstrating the long-standing friendship between Hanoi and Beijing – two capitals with many similarities in culture and history.
The exhibition “Oriental Treasures, Famous Gardens of Beijing” is not only a cultural exchange activity, but also a bridge between Vietnam and China, two countries with long-standing civilizations. Through this exhibition, Vietnamese people, especially young people, will have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Beijing’s famous ancient gardens, living spaces built over centuries and preserving unique cultural values. This event not only provides an opportunity to explore rich oriental culture and art but also connects the two historical cultures of the two countries.
The exhibition features more than 100 photos of 11 representative historical and cultural parks and the Chinese Garden Museum. Among them are four world heritage sites: Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, Jingshan and Zhongshan Park. These historical gardens not only showcase the beautiful scenery of Beijing, but also reflect the traditional culture and contemporary style of the Chinese capital.
Along with the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Oriental Treasures, Beijing Parks”, the signing ceremony of the 2025 Cooperation Plan between the Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center and the Beijing Park Management Center took place; the signing of a letter of intent between the Co Loa Relic Management Board and the Beijing Summer Palace Management Board. This event attracted the attention of a large number of people, in addition to the participation of leaders of agencies, researchers of cultural and artistic history, media agencies and history lovers. The representative of the Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center made statements emphasizing the importance of this Exhibition in preserving and promoting cultural values in the modern context. Thang Long Imperial Citadel has become and will become a gathering place of unique cultural values, a place where future generations can learn, absorb and preserve these precious artistic and historical values. At the same time, he expressed his hope that there will be many areas of cooperation with the Beijing Park Management Center in the future.
