09/02/2020
The Flagpole is built with three floors and a column body.
From the first floor to the third floor, there are spiral staircases leading up.
On the 3rd floor is the body of a cylindrical flag with 8 sides tapering upwards, each side 2.13 m with a body height of 18.2 m. The spiral trapezoidal cylinder consists of 54 steps; illuminated (and vented) by 39 asterisks and 6 fan-shaped windows. These windows are placed along the edges, each side has up to 5 or 6 windows.
The top of the flagpole is composed of an octagonal floor, 3.3 m high with 8 windows corresponding to 8 sides. In the middle of the floor is a round pillar, 0.4 m in diameter and up to the top of the floor, a place to place the flag handle 8 m high, above the red flag with yellow star.
The whole building from the base to this pillar is 33.4 m high, including 3 poles 12 m high, 18.2 m high pillar, 3.3 m floor. If including flag posts, it is over 40 m.
When the French destroyed Hanoi, they intended to destroy the flagpole, fortunately they did not do this, because they wanted to turn it into a horse racing station.
